Yeah, I don't like it one bit either. What do we really know about this former "head of the Human Genome Project" and his beliefs. As scientists, it is best we be completely intolerant of those who hold any sort of religious belief. I mean, how would we feel if our life's work was no longer belittled by those considering themselves religious. Science and religion cannot coexist (with the exception of Francis Collins) and they both have so much to do with one another.

Opinions about the existence of God are not verifiable by scientific method. Of course, neither are opinions about the non-existence of God. If a rigorous scientist can deny God's existence, a rigorous scientist can affirm it. As the old adage goes, what's good for the goose is good for the gander.
