Here is
a nice compilation and review of the messages in several books I have mentioned in previous posts. David Brooks does his usual interesting summary on a contemporary topic in social and evolutionary psychology - in this case the evolution of cooperation.
It sounds as if cooperation is the best way to survive for the group. I cannot read it any other way. But that is not morality, just selfishness at a group level, to serve the group members. Am I missing something?
ReplyDeleteYou are right, selfishness at a group level, i.e. in groups conflicting with other groups, is served by morality within the respective groups that makes them a more cohesive fighting unit.
