Nikolai Sheiko Miniatures "Instant"

This is the second in a series of four videos I am posting on contemporary Russian piano composers. Nikolai Sheiko (1938-2023) was a Soviet/Ukranian Russian theatre/film director and Head of the library dept. of Moscow Art theater.

Nikolai Sheiko Prelude Op. 9

As I mentioned in my July 27 post, I've been obtaining PDFs of music scores written by contemporary Russian piano composers who further develop the styles of their late 19th and early 20 century Russian predecessors. After playing through many of them, I selected 4 pieces to perform at a gathering this past Sunday of Austin area retired music faculty and piano teachers who meet every one or two months to play for each other. Having put in that much effort, I've decided to make and post video recordings of the pieces I played using an iPhone 16 with a Shure condenser microphone connected to its USB C port. I did video postings like this more often early in MindBlog's history, when I was performing in public more frequently.

This prelude above is by Nikolai Sheiko (1938-2023), who was a Soviet/Ukranian Russian theatre/film director and Head of the library dept. of Moscow Art theatre.
