Here is a
neat graphic from the New York Times, apparently motivated by a paper this month in The Lancet saying that half of all the babies born in developed countries in 2007 will live to be 104. This suggests the addition of a 4th life stage, "Old old age" to current categories of youth, adulthood, and old age. The graphic depicts the stages of life as viewed in different historical eras by a variety of writers.
