There seems to be a surge recently in articles on stress in the brain. Here I point you to two pieces:
work from McEwen and collaborators showing that acute stress enhances glutamatergic transmission in prefrontal cortex and facilitates working memory, and
Admon et al.'s study of new recruits to the Israeli military that shows that an individual's amygdalar reactivity (i.e., predated neural sensitivity) before stress is predictive of later vulnerability to stress and stress symptoms.
Stress is both a disease in itself and the cause of physical illness. With mental and physical strategies, it is possible to handle stress in a constructive way.It is true that a little bit of stress can be good for you, but then if you have way too much stress you’re going to have a serious problem and one of the serious problem is that it is effect the brains!!
